Schedule

  • Solid waste – Mondays and Thursdays

  • Heavy trash – Mondays and Thursdays

  • Recycling – Wednesdays

General Guidelines for Back Door Garbage Collection

Garbage and yard waste should be placed out by 7:00 A.M. All branches and tree limbs must be cut to four-foot (4’) lengths and tied in small bundles or bagged yard clippings that can be lifted and handled by a single person. Bundles should be no larger than eighteen inches (18″) in diameter and weigh no more than fifty (50) pounds.

In the event that one of the collection days falls on a holiday, waste will be collected on the following scheduled collection day. A list of scheduled holidays can be found on Texas Pride’s above. In the event of an “Act of God”, Texas Pride will collect your waste on the following scheduled collection day.

Yard Waste

Please ask your landscape service to leave bags of landscape debris next to the household garbage at the back door. Tealwood pays Texas Pride to pick up landscape debris at the back door, so please try to use this service. By doing so, unsightly bags will not be not be left at the curb for several days or over the weekend until they are picked up on the scheduled pickup day.

Heavy Trash

Appliances, hot water heaters, mattresses, heavy or large volumes of yard waste and other white goods appropriate for disposal, shall be placed within five feet (5’) of the curbside and will be collected on the scheduled heavy trash day.

Refrigeration Units

Refrigerators, air conditioners, freezers or items that contain CFC’s (Freon), by law, must have the gas removed by a licensed technician and must be red tagged prior to collection.

Prohibited Waste

Texas Pride will collect and dispose of all residential refuse unless restricted by law or if the item would cause damage to the collection equipment. Listed are some items that are restricted: cross ties, tires, solvents, paint, petroleum products, pool chemicals, fertilizer, herbicides, pesticides, hazardous material/chemicals, logs or stumps, car batteries, soil, rocks, concrete, construction material, remodeling debris (such as carpet, wood, tile), medical waste, medical sharps and closed containers. Call the City of Houston’s Service Helpline, 311, for disposal information.

Recyclable Materials

Newspaper

Includes the newspaper itself and any glossy inserts that are included with your Sunday paper. Please do not include other types of paper. Papers should not be tied or strapped together. If the newspaper volume is such that the bin does not provide ample space, you may place the newspaper in a brown paper bag and set it next to your bin.

Plastic

Plastic bottles and jugs that are marked with a No. 1 or No. 2 recycling logo. This includes milk and water jugs, soda bottles, etc. Please remove caps and rinse the containers. There is no need to remove labels.

Aluminum Beverage Cans

Please rinse empty cans. Crushing the cans will provide additional space for other materials in your recycling bin.

Bi-Metal Cans

This includes food (tin) cans. Please rinse empty cans. There is no need to remove labels.

Note: Glass is not currently included in the curbside recycling program, due to the current local recycling market. Should the market change and make the recycling of glass feasible again, you will be notified accordingly.
